Program Overview:

At registration each child receives a program folder with a reading log.

Color a circle on the reading log for every book read to the child.

Each time a child has been read 100 books he/she returns to the library with the reading log to get the pages for the next 100 books. A sticker is given to be placed on the gumball machine at Friday Memorial Library. Prizes awarded at 200, 500 and 1000 books read.

When 1000 books have been read to the child the library awards them with a certificate and a book. Their picture will also be taken to be added to the Wall of Fame.

A celebration ceremony will be held each spring. All who were read 1000 books will be honored at this graduation ceremony.

Help! I don’t know what books to read!

The Youth Services Librarian will gladly help you pick some books.

What if my child wants to read the same book over and over?

Repetition is key to learning. Each time you read a book, it counts. If you read the same book 5 times, color 5 circles.

Do I have to read books from the library?

You can read books from anywhere, not just library books.

Can I log the books my child hears in storytime?

Yes! Any and every book your child hears counts for this program.

Can it be done?

Read 1 book a day
for 3 years = 1095
Read 10 books a week
for 2 years = 1040
Read 3 books a day
for 1 year = 1095

You can do it!
