Genealogy & Local History Research

Friday Memorial Library maintains a local history collection which includes books, microfilm of the New Richmond News, selected plat maps, print and digital copies of the New Richmond High School yearbooks, oral histories, cemetary listings, and a print catalog of births, marriages, and deaths from the New Richmond News. The history computer will give you access to Ancestry Library Edition and several genealogy links to help you in your genealogy search.

MORE Account

Did you know you can request materials, renew materials, and pay fines online through your MORE account? Log in to view your library account using your name and library card number. You can access your account information by selecting your name in the upper right. You can also renew materials by calling 1.866.MY.RENEW or by calling Friday Memorial Library during open hours at 715.243.0431.


Library Elf

Library Elf is a web-based and email tool for library users to keep track of their library borrowings. Designed with the busy or avid user in mind, Elf is ideal for families with multiple library cards. Elf makes it easier to keep track of what is due, overdue, or ready for pickup from one or more library accounts. Email notices are sent when items are coming due, overdue, or when materials are ready for pickup. If your library card expires or you get a new one, please update your Library Elf account.

Here's how to sign up

1. Visit

2. Click Sign Up.

3. Complete the sign up form and click Create Elf Account.

4. Click MORE consortium as your library from the Wisconsin listing.

5. Leave Library Card Pin blank. The MORE consortium does not use PIN numbers.

6. Click Save.

7. Add family member library cards to track, if you wish.

8. Click Edit in the Options field to choose how and when you would like to receive alerts.



Request Materials

There are several catalogs to find what you are looking for. Start looking through the MORE online catalog. If you cannot find it there, we can expand the search with WISCAT and  WORLDCAT. If you need help requesting through WISCAT or WORLDCAT, please call or stop by the library and we can help you. All materials coming in through WISCAT will have a white paper on the front. These need to be checked out at the front desk by library staff.
